The Chorus of the Atlantic welcomed students from the Ready Set Sing Program into the auditorium at Red Bank Middle School to jointly rehearsal a new song for the men, Love Me And The World Is Mine. Some students are also learning Jingle Bells and Christmas Chopsticks. We are very happy with the community response to our offer of Free Singing Lessons. The 6-week course is taught by COA Director Craig J. Page and Matinee Idles Director John T Huetz at Red Bank Middle School on Tuesday evenings. The students were given instruction in the mechanics or singing and breathing.
The Red Bank Area Chapter is proud to participate in the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony each year. Early Sunday morning, on September 11th, The Chorus of the Atlantic, under the direction of Craig J. Page, performed The Star-Spangled Banner, God Bless America and The Irish Blessing for the assembled crowd of about 50 people. The 9/11 Memorial Ceremony is hosted by the Red Bank Elks Lodge at the beautiful and peaceful, Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank. Mayor Pat Menna spoke to the people about the sacrifices made by first responders, police and firefighters and the lives cut short. The Elks ceremony highlighted the communal sense of loss we feel for those who perished and encouraged the audience to the determination that America will persevere as the beacon of liberty and freedom.
On Saturday, September 17th, the men of the Chorus of the Atlantic, under the direction of Kirk Thomson, shared some time and a few tunes with the patients in the Rehab Unit at the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.
The Chorus performed the Star-Spangled Banner at the opening of the Lakewood Blueclaws baseball game on August 16th.
